Containers

Most containers or some form of packaging might have a charge attached to them and the companies supplying these items will charge the user for the delivery of these stock items so that they can recover them and make the items re-useable.It helps control the cost of the company by passing this charge on to the consumer ensuring that they control these items.

The way in which Procure.net has handled this additional charge is to create container items which we attach to stock items that have containers delivered with all stock items. When a GRV is done and a stock item has been loaded that has a container attached to it, then the container module is activated and the user will be able to account for all containers or crates that have been attached to all stock items.

In the example below we received a stock item from a supplier that has a container attached to it.

Data Entry Grid

When the stock item is loaded into the screen the container functionality becomes available so that the user can see the amount and quantity of the containers that have been received.

Container Functionality

The user can at this stage of the process send containers back to the supplier. If no returns have been processed as in the example above then no returns will be added to the container functionality at the bottom of the GRV screen.

The user can however add returns of containers to the supplier within the container functionality if they do have returns that needs to be processed as in the example below we have added 10 containers that needs to be returned to the supplier. This return however will not be added to the returns column in the data entry grid. I.e. This is only the return of containers and not the return of the beer stock item.

Note: If you add the returns in the data entry (I.e: A beer stock item that is been returned) then the container functionality will show the additional return of the containers that have been attached to the beer stock item. The user can in addition to the stock item return also add additional containers that will be returned to the supplier.

This result only shows 10 containers been returned. In the example below we have a return of a stock item in the Data Entry Grid as well as additional container returns to the supplier.

This calculation on the container functionality results in the correct total on your containers as well as your returns to your supplier.

as well as your Claims Total which shows the correct claim been raised for this GRV. The Total amount of the stock items that have been sent back as well as the containers that have been returned has been annotated under the Claims Totals screen.

When you submit your GRV your printout for your 10 beer stock items that has been returned on your returns claim is printed out correctly as shown below as well as the 10 (This includes the 5 containers that have been attached to the 5 stock items that have been returned in the data entry grid) containers that have been returned to the supplier balances out against the 10 containers that has been received.
